My Challenge to You in the New Year

Here it is...my challenge for you in 2012:  Do not make New Years resolutions for your chapters.

You might think that sounds a little counterintuitive, but hear me out.  When do we, as a culture, make New Years resolutions?  The start of the new year, right?  That also would make complete sense for Zeta considering out chapters are starting under new leadership, right?

What percentage of those resolutions are achieved with success?  According to TED speaker and innovationist Stephen Shapiro (steveshapiro.com), approximately 8% of people who make resolutions achieve them without fail.  8%.  That seems like a lot of talk over a technique that does not work.

So, in this new year of 2012, do not make resolutions.  HAVE resolution.  That is defined on dictionary.com as a "firmness of purpose."  HAVE resolution.  MAKE decisions.  That is how growth will happen in our chapters.

We are returning to campuses across Indiana.  New leaders are in place.  Each of you is facing the amazing opportunity to leave your chapter SO much better than you found it that you wonder if you could get in.  That is what all of our first decisions should be.  Radical improvement.  Righteous hard work.  Values-based direction.

What will your contribution to your chapter be in 2012?  What will your contribution to ZTA
